As I reflected on the final song on my 2024 Spotify Wrapped playlist, I couldn't help but wonder — was I fully brainrotted? The songs I played most in the year that followed seem to confirm that my brain is indeed chopped. Delulu anthems, frothy bubblegum pop and unhinged viral dance tracks make up the majority of this year's playlist. But even the stupidest songs can be personally significant. And in what was another year of depressing and chaotic headlines that hit close to home, the simple joy my silly pop songs provided felt especially meaningful.
